Yesterday I’ve been on the Bull Island and to my big surprise I found about 100 Bee Orchids!! They’re in fool bloom now, so if you’ve got an opportunity to visit this place, just go!

Lovely pictures Aleks
I was there myself the other evening, lots of things to see.
Definitely a good year for our natives

Very interesting Aleks and beautiful photos,
I was at Killard Nature Reserve in County Down, Northern Ireland last week which I have visited for almost 30 years. It is a heavenly place of total silence except for Skylarks and Meadow Pipits singing and the screech of a Peregrine hunting but this year was extra special as I have never seen so many Pyramidal and Common Spotted orchids in bloom, literally thousands!

I’ve been out too a few days after Aleks and I have to agree with Shane! Orchids were in abundance, it must been a very special year condition-wise.
Great pictures, Aleks! - 14th September 2019 at 12:15 pm #2533David MorseParticipant
Hi All,
Finally logged on and saw this thread….I too saw an abundance of orchids on Bull Island when I visited around the same time as Aleks. It was my first time seeking out our native species, and I felt like a child on a treasure hunt. I saw lots of Pyramid Orchids, the Bee Orchids (which was the reason I went out there in the first place) and a few other species
